[SOLVED] installing (youshows) demo to subfolder

hrm, well:

i think i'm going to try to accomplish this by:

backing up articles, pics etc (jos_content) and the extensions i want to keep using phpmyadmin. then uninstall joomla and youmovies demo with fantastico. and finally re-install joomla / youshows demo.

does this seem like a... rational/logical method to you?

btw, when i upload the new demo will it be joomla 1.6?

Youshows isn't converted yet, so only 1.5 available.

First make a full backup, in case anything goes wrong, and then do the partial backup and import that into your new template, be it on a subdomain or not.

Some things just aren't easy, but i still don't get why you can't just install a new template and configure it as you like (with all your current content) if you are looking up to this. Just installing the template and configuring is really the easiest way.

because it seems as though for the template to operate as it does, that (many) adjustments to the extensions have already taken place.

like i have no idea how to get yjms2 to look like it does. on the youshows demo, when you click yjms2, it sends you to the youmovies demo. that's not what i want.

my multitabs doesn't fit properly, the tabs are on top of each other.

i could go on.

obviously i'm not a developer so i want to start with something i can understand not try to put a big puzzle together if you know what i mean.

anyone i can hire here on youjoomla?

Ok, we just keep it as simple as possible then.

How many articles, you can always copy them by hand.

About hiring someone, we have a demo install service, i am sure one of us can install the demo on a subdomain for you: Youjoomla Signup[]=14

Please mind, this is just the demo, which will give you a reference on how to set up all extensions and how it is done. This you could then use to set the template and extensions up on your main domain, without losing your articles or having to go through the process of exporting all articles.

Local install tutorial is coming, that also could help you out in a big way, sorry for the delay.
